CHASE Ben Hollioake Fund
England and Surrey cricketer Ben Hollioake was killed in a car crash in 2002, aged just 24.
His brother Adam, Patron of CHASE, and the Hollioake family wanted to create an everlasting memory in Ben’s name.
The fund they established aims to raise as much money as possible for CHASE, to help support life-limited children and their families.
Thank you to Jonathan Batty
Jonathan Batty at Surrey Cricket Club
JB joined Surrey in 1997 and although he may have been one of the lesser known names in the side, he was one of the most important during his entire 11 year Surrey career.
He has scored 8788 first-class runs and has over 600 first-class dismissals to his name.
After a final season that saw him score 937 first-class runs and take 50 County Championship dismissals, he is off to pastures new at Gloucestershire.
He will no doubt get on as quietly, positively and as skillfully with this next challenge as he did with Surrey and with his genuine professional approach will be a huge benefit to them.
The 2009 Jonathan Batty Benefit Year
In 2009 JB was awarded a benefit year by Surrey and chose the CHASE hospice care for children Ben Hollioake Fund and the Professional Cricket Association Benevolent Fund to be the two charities he would support by donating a percentage of the money raised throughout his benefit year.
As we reach the end of this year we like to take this opportunity to thank JB for all the generosity, kindness and time that he has given to CHASE and the life limited children that we support.
We wish him every success as he moves to Gloucestershire.
We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Barry Kitcherside and all the Jonathan Batty Benefit committee for everything that they have done to make it such a successful year.
Thanks also to Nicole and JB’s parents Roger and Gill for all their kindness and support and Tawny Hazelwood for all her skill and hard work in organising all the events
It has been a pleasure for us to work with all of you.
He is so much more than just a cricketer!!!!
