Since CHASE hospice care for children started in 1994, 21 groups have been established.
Their combined efforts have raised an impressive 600k annually.
Their support has been the cornerstone of our success.
Without these Friends Groups, CHASE would simply not exist.
What is a Friends Group?
There are no cast iron rules to follow in starting a new group and it becoming a success.
1. They are groups of individuals and / or friends; each group is different and varies in size. Some have 1 member, some 3 and then there are larger groups of 15+.
2. Their main purpose is to raise funds in the community for CHASE hospice care for children. With minimal government funding, we rely on charitable funds and donations and need to raise around £4 million a year to run and maintain our service.
3. Their other purpose is to raise the profile of CHASE hospice care for children and the awareness of CHASE in our community.
What does setting up a Friends Group involve?
1. Some of your spare time and energy, how much is decided by you.
2. Arranging a wide range of events - throughout the year. How many and what size of event is up to you and your fellow group members. You can fundraise together for almost anything. Some examples are:
3. HAVING FUN – Arrange events that you enjoy and share them with others. The great thing is that there is no pressure; everyone does as much or as little as they feel able to do.
As your confidence and supporters grow you will be amazed at the number of opportunities that arise.
4. Friends Group Structure. Ideally each group needs the equivalent of a chairman, secretary and treasurer in order to help spread out the tasks and Vice Chairman for succession.
5. It goes without saying that by offering to start a group you are already committed to the cause. You may already have a group of people with whom to share your enthusiasm and draw on for help and support:
6. How CHASE can help you
